The Jackson Animal Care Center, which is operated by the City of Jackson, believes in the humane treatment of all animals. Its goal is to find forever homes for stray and abandoned dogs and cats. Any animal that arrives at the Animal Care Center will be spayed or neutered and made healthy before it is adopted.

The adoption process is quite simple. There is an application that needs to be filled out and approved. If you rent your home, we need proof from your landlord that it is alright for you to have an animal and that your pet deposit has been paid. We highly recommend a meet-and-greet with all members of the potential family, including any pets already in the home. Once approved, there is also an adoption contract that will need to be filled out. The adoption fee for dogs is $125 and the fee for cats is $80. This fee includes the animal’s spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, and age appropriate vaccines.

The center is at 23 Pinnacle Drive. It is open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday.
